Bio

David Salle (Norman, Oklahoma, 1952) is an American painter. He has been attached to various trends in American postmodern art, such as Neo-expressionism, Simulationism, Bad painting or New Image Painting.

Salle studied at the California Institute of the Arts, where he was a student of John Baldessari; Here he began to use in his painting cinematographic techniques like the assembly and the divided screen. After finishing his studies, he moved to New York, where he lives and works, and where he has received a great success from critics and audiences.
